Lc1 by Le Corbusier: An Armachair Modern and Unique

Also a little part of forniture, like an armchair, could have a glimpse of elegance and class that make the furniture unique and recognizable among the others: and surely this is the case of the tilting armchair lc1 by le Corbusier. The armchair lc1 was projected and designed by the Swiss designer and presented to the “Salon D’Automne” in Paris, the tilting armchair lc1 gets the more significant of the unique and original style of his creator.

In the first place for the materials: the tilting armchair lc1 by le corbursier shows a framework with steel tubes, meanwhile the backrest, the armrest and the seat are made in leather. The Le Corbusier LC1 armchair comes from a collection of avant-garde furniture developed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand in the late 1920s.

Then as now the LC1 armchair is characterised by its strict, minimalist form, a form reduced to elementary geometric shapes yet which results in maximum comfort. Largely responsible for the very high comfort levels are sophisticated details such as the movable backrest or steel springs behind the seat and backrest.

Like all the other works by the Swiss designer, a great attention was put in the comfort of the tilting armchair lc1 by le Corbusier: the backrest has a variable inclination, to easily adapt to every kind of seat, more straight or more inclined, without losing comfort. And the tilting armchair lc1 respects another of the design rule of its creator, whereby the aspect of an object should recalls the function of the same object: overall the tilting armchair lc1 by le Corbusier has a simple and elegant style, so you can insert it in every kind of furniture.

The arm chair lc1 by le Corbusier although made from polished tubular steel, it was inspired by the colonial officer’s folding chair; with its leather straps for armrests and original calf-hide seat and back, it became known as the Safari chair. Confusingly it is sometime also known as the Basculant. If Le Corbusier saw houses as 'machines for living’, his furniture should be seen as the tools with which this was possible. The chairs were functional, with necessary rather than decorative components.

One of the signature classics of modern design, the back of the chair is attached to the frame by a rod that allows the angle of tilt to change. As the user shifts from one sitting position to the next, the chair back moves with them for continuous support. Pairing the purity of simple tubular steel with the sensual warmth of natural hide, this piece of "equipment de l'habitation" has a sleek look and an air of functional elegance.

If you are looking for an armchair for your home or office, and you want a chair that is at the same time comfortable and elegant, you can choose the armchair lc1 by le Corbusier. You can choose between a large series of colors and you will give a touch of elegance at your furniture, with a piece of design fascinating and with a modern style.
